Yarmouth Veterinary Center:
The Animal Hospital for Cats and Dogs

From spay and neuter to wellness exams and laser therapy to dental treatments, Yarmouth Veterinary Center is your full-service animal hospital for cats and dogs. Through neutering, you can help your pet live a longer, healthier life while decreasing the population of unwanted pups and kittens. Neutering of male cats and dogs also prevents undesirable behaviors, such as the urge to roam and male aggression. And if you have several pets at home, neutered pets get along better. Spaying of female cats and dogs entails the removal of the ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus. With male neutering, the testes are removed. Most cats and dogs recover quickly after sterilization, but we do recommended keeping them crated or in a small, confined room during the healing process. To prevent licking and chewing of the incision, we often apply a neck collar.

Take advantage of our pet dental services. Many cats and dogs suffer from oral disease, which can cause pain and adverse systemic effects. During our pet oral exam, we check for plaque, swollen and bleeding gums, worn teeth and jaw abnormalities. Depending on your pet’s behavior, our Yarmouth veterinarians may perform a dental exam with general anesthesia for X-rays or more periodontal inspection.

Veterinary Care for Yarmouth, Cumberland, Brunswick, Portland, Falmouth, Freeport, and Pownal for Diagnostic Testing and Surgery

At Yarmouth Veterinary Center, we are equipped with an in-house lab, the latest technology for X-rays, ultrasound and endoscopy equipment. We use advanced diagnostics to identify injuries and diseases like kidney disease, skin infections, infectious diseases, hip dysplasia, osteoarthritis and much more. Once we’ve identified the root problem, we’ll advise of all the available treatment options.

If your pet requires surgery, we often use a laser. Laser surgery for pets involves using the concentrated light forces as a surgical tool. Laser surgery has many benefits for both veterinarians and pets, including precision incision, less tissue trauma, less bleeding, less swelling and an overall faster recovery after surgery.

"Ancient civilizations worshipped cats as gods; cats have never forgotten this.

Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."  -  Groucho Marx
