Reptiles are not dogs and cats with scales or shells. The basic principles of a proper environment and good diet that transpose easily from people to dogs and cats do not also readily apply to reptiles. Careful attention must be paid to the details of housing and feeding for the specific reptile species in order to keep it in good health as a pet.
One key component of wellness care for reptiles that does apply to reptiles as well is a regular preventive health exam. At Yarmouth Veterinary Center, we recommend that pet reptiles receive a routine health exam at least once yearly. We also advise an exam and consultation for newly acquired reptiles.
If you would like to schedule a routine wellness exam for your turtle or tortoise, call us at 207-482-0493, or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also check in for your appointment by filling out our check-in information here on our website:
